The indigenous land defenders from the Wet'suwet'en people who protest against a fracking gas pipeline have strong support across Canada. 57 people were arrested at the Port Vancouver shutdown. Protesters blocked the entrance to the legislature of British Columbia. Railroads have been blocked. The Wet'suwet'en were granted sovereignty on their land and they would have had the right for free, prior, and informed consent under Canadian law before the pipeline could be built. However an interim injunction made permanent allows Coastal GasLink to operate on their territory. Royal Canadian Mounted Police is terrorizing the indigenous land defenders by a heavily armed invasion, by pointing with guns at unarmed people and by arbitrary arrests.
